Where We Started
While living in Western China, our CEO Mike Sense felt the lack of counseling options many expats experience. So Global Counseling Network began with an idea: wherever you are, you should have access to quality counseling. We quickly learned that the success of our network rested on having the best counselors, for which we developed a counselor-focused environment.
In 2015, we set out to offer integrated counseling to deployed missionaries. In the process, we discovered a wider audience. We recognized an opportunity to provide high-quality counseling to clients around the world as well as a great home to counselors. In this spirit, Global Counseling Companies was born.
Who We Are
As an online Christian counseling agency we seek to be counselor-first, so that we can be client-focused. We believe that if counselors are trained, developed, and genuinely cared for, that our clients will be cared for as well. Our deep belief in the dignity and beauty of humankind leads us to honor every person that is involved with GCN.
We are counselors, teachers, and leaders. We are neighbors, friends, and clients. We’ve sat on both sides of the counseling couch: we are motivated to counsel in part because we’ve received so much from counseling ourselves. All GCN counselors are highly trained, deeply caring, and driven to help people flourish.
Where We’re Going
Counselors around the world are always on a quest to find the best environment to do what they were made to do. We continually strive to create an environment where counselors feel free to thrive and grow in their work.
Likewise, clients are always looking for counselors with whom they can have a trust-based relationship, someone that can be a guide toward wholeness. We are dedicated to expanding GCN not for the sake of expansion, but for the sake of healing and wholeness, a little bit at a time, by God’s grace.
So what’s next? We are working on a proprietary delivery platform, an app, higher education, care for first responders, and counseling-reach to the far corners of the planet. Some people ask, “Are you on a mission to change the world?” No, we are on a mission to transform lives by caring for people anywhere in the world. If in the process the world is changed for the better, we are okay with that.
